When should you start planning corporate calendars and diaries for the coming year?
Planning should begin no later than September — ideally as early as June or July. Here is why: paper suppliers and semi-finished goods manufacturers offer the widest selection in summer, and early enquiries guarantee the required paper weights and colours. Print shops are at maximum capacity from September through November, and lead times can stretch to six weeks. Custom photography needs time for colour correction and typesetting. Finished calendars should arrive by 30 November so you can dispatch them to clients before Christmas along with seasonal greetings. Allow 8–10 weeks for a fully custom design, and 4–6 weeks for a standard catalogue product. Production prices increase significantly in November due to fully booked capacity, so early planning also delivers meaningful cost savings.
What type of calendar or planner should I choose for corporate use?
The choice depends on your target audience and place of use. A desk calendar with a weekly or fortnightly layout is ideal for clients doing administrative work — it sits on their desk every day for 12 months. Wall calendars (A3 or A2 format) are suited for kitchens, workshops and warehouses — the logo is visible from a distance, making them ideal for construction and manufacturing companies. A5 and A6 planning diaries are a more premium option; clients carry them in a handbag or briefcase, making them well-suited for management and sales representatives. For VIP clients, choose leather-bound diaries with a laser-engraved name. A growing trend is hybrid formats combining a weekly layout with dedicated note space and a monthly overview.
What printing technology is used for corporate calendars and diaries?
Desktop and wall calendars are printed using offset printing in full-colour (CMYK) on coated paper with a grammage of 130–250 g/m². For premium calendars we apply partial UV varnishing to create glossy accents on logos or design motifs. Diaries and planners are printed digitally or by offset with a flexible paper grammage (60–100 g/m²) depending on the number of pages. Leather diary covers are decorated using pad printing (for logos) or laser engraving (for client names). For luxury editions we combine offset printing with foil stamping (gold, silver, copper) for an elegant finish. For custom photographs we require a minimum resolution of 300 DPI in the CMYK colour space.
How do I prepare artwork for a corporate calendar?
Start with a concept — choose a consistent theme for the whole year (company products, regional landscapes, client goals, behind-the-scenes human stories). You will need 12 photographs at a resolution of at least 300 DPI, ideally from different seasons to match the corresponding months. The company logo must be in vector format (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg) — a raster version will break up at large print sizes. Prepare contact details for the back cover. Use the public holiday calendar relevant to your target country, as each market (CZ, SK, DE, EN) has its own. We recommend keeping information uncluttered and applying your brand colours consistently. Our in-house design studio prepares the first draft within 5 working days at no charge. Before production we provide a proof for your approval.
Are there sustainable and alternative formats for corporate calendars?
Yes, alongside classic paper calendars we offer several alternatives. Recycled paper with FSC certification — the entry-level eco choice with comparable print quality. Calendars printed with plant-based inks free of mineral oils — for companies with higher eco standards. Diaries with covers made from recycled leather or cork — combining a premium look with sustainability. Calendars with integrated seeds — after the year is up, each page can be planted in the ground and a plant will grow. Paperless digital calendars with a QR code — the client receives a printed card linking to a web application containing the full calendar (paper savings, real-time updates). For companies with an ESG strategy, a paper calendar made from FSC-certified stock is the standard choice.
